Life Drawing

It is true, we have moved to the big city and so I have to take all the opportunities the city has to offer. Starting with Life Drawing classes. I need to get back into practise. After over four years of managing other artists, for my sanity I have to have some "me" time. I haven't done a life drawing class for nearly twenty years, so I have picked a casual suburban class. I know immediately I have found a safe place. In a crowded room, there are easels everywhere, chatter and laughter. The class is filled with mostly eccentric oldies, somehow this makes me feel at home. One week the model and the artists are debating local politics. They tease each other and discuss everything from the birds in their gardens to some arty jazz club they like to go to. Despite their exuberant friendliness, I still feel like an idiot. I have no clue what I am doing. I haven't been to art school, I don't know the technique. In the break I call my friend Robyn who reminds me I am not an idiot. A true friend she always is!

  1. good story. Recognizable ... I need to do the same.... no time however ..... (or maybe it's only an excuse - very bad excuse ;) )
