Tales of my Uncle Bob

Just a little bit excited(!!!) about this project. My lithographer friend Kaye Green who lives in Tasmania called me a couple of months ago with a very vague story about a friend of hers who was looking for an illustrator and she wasn't sure whether I'd be interested etc etc. But I've had a fabulous time illustrating for Chris Robinson. His story is funny and quirky and reminded me so much of my desert travels and now it is in print! Available on amazon. Check it out!

Ice Cream on Mondays...

My friend Robyn and I have started working together on a Monday to create things as fabulous as ice cream and so we call our new travelling studio "Ice Cream on Mondays". Some days she comes to my kitchen table and some days I travel to her print studio...and some days we just eat ice cream!

In the shops!!

Serviette Art

Friday night Hugo(7), Jonah(9) and I went out into the hills to see the fabulous group exhibtion "Words" at the Onkaparinga Woollen Mill in Lobethal, featuring our bestest friend Robyn Finlay. On the way, we spotted numerous road side apple stands, a chocolate factory (unfortunately closed in the evenings!) and much to the amusement of Jonah and Hugo, a sign saying "Horse Poo $2.00". On the way back, tired and hungry we stopped in at Hahndorf for late tea. Anyone knows that when tiredness and hunger are combined the next thing that comes along is grumpiness. So, hot chocolates and extra serviettes were ordered for a game of "Picture Tag" and before too long we were back on the road with two sleepy boys gently snoring all the way home....

For Arts Sake

When you start madly sending your porfolio out to every possible magazine, publishing house, ezine, competition etc on the planet, it almost comes as surprise when you get a bite. You think perhaps when the phone rings one day from a greeting card company in Sydney wanting you to produce a range of birthday cards, you are in fact imagining things. But no, in this case it was the real deal. So thanks to the lovely Noel and Salima from "For Arts Sake",  my very first range of commerical greeting cards has gone to print!

Halloween Watermelon

Peeling the watermelon was the easy part. After that, I just stared at the knife and the watermelon and diagrams of brains all over google...and then worried that Jonah (9) would know what it should look like, but he was at school so I couldn't consult him. Once I realised it didn't have to be anatomically correct, I  just doodled with a knife instead of a pen. Halloween fun!! (and on inspection...Jonah approved!)
